How to capture video from Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC HDDVR Download here
Recently I found a zip file containing everything necessary to capture standard video only through firewire from the cable box (Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC HDDRV, serice from Time Warner Cable, Austin, TX). I found the zip file here.
Download the file, and unzip. CapDVHS.exe is the capture utility, the others are drivers for some of the devices in the HDDVR. Connect firewire to HDDVR point to the two .inf files, let it load some of the devices and then start the capture utility and record. There are limitations, cannot change anything but recording time and on my PC I experience this glitch where every other recording attempt fails (you will see a resolution of 1X0). Enjoy!
